• Hi,

I thought I was at fault but I can definitely say that the details in the “Podcast Optimization” section are not always saved. I can not reproduce 100% it yet. Could it be due to a post not being published but just saved as a draft?

I just lost a complete description because of this – I can assure 100% that I did save the post as a draft. My plugin version is always up to date. Is anyone else experiencing this?

What can I do to help the developer fix this?

Which fields did you fill out that lost information? Did it happen immediately after you saved the post as a draft? Or was it only missing when you left the post after saving it as draft and coming back later?

    Hi Shawn,

thanks for taking the time to look into this.

I usually only fill out the Episode #, Season # and Summary. They all lost information. (And I could swear that sometimes they don’t lose information but don’t save the changes.)

It did NOT happen immediately after saving the post as a draft but after saving as a draft and then closing the tab (after waiting for the “save finished” confirmation”).

Couldn’t replicate this within my own test WordPress site; each time I closed a tab or otherwise navigated away from a saved draft and came back, the episode number, season number, and Summary field held what I’d entered into them before saving the draft.

In my testing, I always entered some text into the post title, post editor, and added a media file URL to the Podcast Episode box. Are you doing all of these things before saving a draft where the optimization fields go blank?

    Okay, thanks for trying.

I remembered that I’ve been using the “Schedule release” function in WordPress for my recent posts and made some tests to see if it is in any way related to that – no result.

I’ll keep an eye on this and will try to track my exact steps for the next posts.

    Thank you for your time.

OK, I think I got it now.

I enter those details as described, probably save as a draft a couple of times, then schedule the post for release.

When I try to edit the post before release, the details are still there.

Upon scheduled release those fields are empty. Has happened multiple times now.

Did a couple posts on my test site as scheduled posts but I still can’t replicate the disappearing episode/season numbers and disappearing iTunes Summary. On my test site, I’m using the default PowerPress feed. Are you using anything like Category Podcasting or Custom Podcast Channels?

I’m sorry I don’t understand what you mean by your question. I’m not aware of having switched on any kind of Category Podcasting or Custom Podcast Channels. Im hosting the files myself, though.

And it might be worth mentioning that I started using your plugin many years ago by migrating from a different plugin (can’t remember the name) but that was at least eight years ago. Could it be some ancient legacy setting?

Is there any way for me to send you some kind of system status/log file to help you help me fix this?

This keeps happening. Sometimes upon reopening a scheduled, unrealeased post, old versions of the field content show up.

Could this be related to me using a href links in the summary?

Tried multiple posts with anchor (a href) tags in the summary and everything worked normally. None of my tests recreated the issue you’re experiencing.
