mysterious source code re-appearing every few hours

    every few hours, some strange things keep happening to this site. for some reason, certain parts of the source code become completely screwed up.

    when everything is working properly, line 7 of my stylesheet just looks like: <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="all" href="https://poolplayersforhire.com/wp-content/themes/twentytenchild/style.css" />

    but if you look at the source code when the site is messed up (https://pastebin.com/ddAhEste), you’ll see how line 7 goes on and on and on with mentions about different plugins and different themes. Atahualpa353, green-theme and others are themes I previously used on this site but have since completely removed from the remote folder. I’m now only using a twentyten child theme were I modified the header.php, footer.php and I think that’s it.

    And as soon as i login to the dashboard, and then refresh the front-end, everything is back to normal.

    what the heck is going on here???

  • Looks like either a bad plugin or a seriously screwed up server. Do you have the plugins & themes referenced in those lines installed by any chance?

    definitely not, regarding the plugin/theme references. like i mentioned above, line 7 normally looks like this:
    <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="all" href="https://poolplayersforhire.com/wp-content/themes/twentytenchild/style.css" />

    Line 40 (just a regular image) normally looks like this:
    <img src="https://poolplayersforhire.com/wp-content/themes/twentyten/images/headers/path.jpg" width="940" height="198" alt="" />

    i’m thinking that maybe the problem is being caused by the Contact Form 7 plugin because its mentioned so many times in that mangled code. I just deactivated it and am using a new form. But whats weird is that the form was working well for a long long time, and there’s no update to the plugin since I installed it.

    Is the plugin up to date? I’ve never seen anything like this with CF7 and I’ve used it a fair bit over the past few years. It might be conflict between CF7 and A.N.Other plugin, I suppose. But, if the pages are throwing up references to old (now deleted) themes & plugins, I think it would be far more likely to be a server issue. Maybe a badly configured cache?

    this is weird. i’m still having the issue even though CF7 plugin, and the Green Theme, which are both mentioned in the mangled code, has been complete erased from the remote site.

    ummmm, how do i know if I have a badly configured cache? I contacted godaddy,the hosting company and they said their caches were “meticulously maintained”.

    and I already completely uninstalled wordpress and re-installed it. so maybe the problem is with the database??

    i just did a search of the database for the term “contact-form-7” and found two references to it. See the screenshot here.

    should I delete these two lines???
