Hi, I’m trying to generate a static page using the Simply Static plugin, but when I generate the site, my index.html just shows gibberish text. Can someone help me understand what I may be doing wrong?

    Hey @sergiobeltrao,

    thanks for reaching out!

This looks like some encoding issue – do you have any obfuscation tool running?
Maybe something enabled via a plugin?
Or an external service (like Cloudflare?)

Does the HTML in WordPress look fine?

Hi, @patrickposner . I’m running my WordPress on a Debian 12 web server inside a VM on my local network. This is a brand new installation dedicated only to WordPress. The only plugins I have are ‘Akismet Anti-spam: Spam Protection’ and ‘Hello Dolly’ (the default ones), but they are disabled anyway. I have tried using different versions of Simply Static but got the same result. The plugin did complain about cURL, but I have it installed (v7.8, I think). It also complained about SSL, but I don’t connect with any external APIs, so I just ignored those. The HTML on WordPress looks fine. Since it was my first time using the plugin, I even tested it using LocalWP, and it works there.
