I updated my website to the newest version of wordpress 6.5.5, updated Author Writer to v 2.2, and updated my plugins. However it seems the homepage slider no longer works. Instead of a slider I get a massive parchment-looking image in its place (shown below).

Additionally, no matter what I do, I cannot turn off the parchment image. It remains regardless of what options I attempt to change.

    Troubleshooting steps I’ve already taken:

    • Deactivated and reactivated the slider via the toggle – No effect.
    • Tried alternate pages in the slider settings – No effect
    • Changed any featured images to the recommended slider size although a smaller height worked on the previous version – no effect.
    • Deactivated all plugins – no effect.
    • Reactivated plugins – no effect.
    • Reinstalled wordpress – no effect.
    • Switched to a different theme and switched back – no effect

Hoping for any assistance in getting the slider to work again, or at least being able to remove the massive block of parchment so that at least content is above the fold.

    Thanks!

Update: Site auto-updated to version 2.3 and the problem persists.

Edit: Decided to just purchase pro since I cannot have my website looking that bad for this long. Disappointed that such a major site component was broken for at least 2 releases though

    Hello,

To show the slider on the home page, follow the below steps.

    For slider section:

Step 1: Go to dashboard >> Pages >> Add New – create a home page and select a page template as a Custom Home Page and publish it.

Step 2: Go to dashboard >> Customizer >> Homepage Settings – Select a Static Page and publish it.

Step 3: Go to dashboard >> Customizer >> Custom Home Page >> Slider Section – Select slider pages. – Click on the checkbox to show the slider and publish it.

    Thank You

Ok, @themespride I know you’re probably a CS person and not a dev, but when people use language like “No longer works” after an update, that means that it was working previously and reposting instructions does jack diddly, cause they already read them and had a functioning product.

When people list troubleshooting steps, it’s to help devs narrow down what a person has already tried so they don’t end up going in needless circles.

Now that that’s out of the way, it’s STILL broken several updates later, and by the way, the slider on the paid version is broken too, but not as badly. So how about you pass the fact that the SLIDER IS BROKEN onto the devs, rather than repost the easy-to-find documentation.
