slider timer?

    I have been tasked with developing a timer for the slider (days, not seconds!). How would you approach this?

    Currently, I am thinking of the following approaches:
    1. hack (86400 seconds)
    2. javascript integration (any experiences with this?)
    3. modifying the plugin (how much php can I learn in a month?)
