There has to be a easier way to sort the items in a category instead of dragging and dropping them. All the products I sell are listed in the categories alphabetically by name. Is there a way, to go into the products, into a category, into sorting, click sort by name and have it stay that way? It takes so much time to manually sort by dragging and dropping when there can be hundreds of items on a page and my products are continuously changing.

  • Hey there, @howacoglass! Thanks for contacting us. I’m happy to help you.

On your theme, do you have access to the customizer?
If you do, you will be able to see it under the Appearance tab.

If you do, please go to Appearance > Customize > WooCommerce > Product Page and under Default product sorting, choose custom sorting + name. This should show the products in alphabetical order unless you manually change their order (which would be custom order).

If you already did that and it is not working, or if you do not have access to the customizer, please let us know so we can assist you further.

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Have a wonderful day!

Thank you. I do have custom sorting + name chosen, but unfortunately it doesn’t do anything, I still have to drag and drop to organize them. I use Divi as my theme if that matters.

I suggest clearing your site’s cache and seeing if the changes take effect. If that doesn’t work, it’s possible that there is a conflict between your theme and the WooCommerce plugin. To confirm this, you could try temporarily switching to a default WordPress theme like Storefront or Twenty Twenty-Four and see if the issue persists.

You may consider using a plugin such as WooCommerce Product Sort and Display, which could help automate the sorting process. This plugin gives you much control over how your products are displayed and can save you a lot of time.

I hope this helps! Please let us know how it goes or if you need further assistance.
