Hi, still a little bogged down at liftoff with existing posts on the front page. The query loop block is nicely created for them, there is an open question posted at SO regarding the post content in the editor and resulting content saved from the editor (sans post-title and post-excerpt blocks).

This may be intended, or could it be explained by something else borked at the site?

    Thanks.

Hi @lmstearn – I’m a little unclear what your questions is – are you able to clarify at all?

Hi jordesign, thanks for your interest, here’s a snap of the page in edit (mysite.com/wp-admin/site-editor.php?postType=wp_template&postId=twentytwentyfour%2F%2Ffront-page&canvas=edit):

The above post-title?and?post-excerpt blocks do not appear in the front page when saved, however they do appear in the blog home or posts page, in accordance with the settings in options-reading, is there any chance of getting them on the front page, and dispensing with the blog home altogether?

Think in my reading a child theme is required for that, not sure though.

HI @lmstearn – thanks for explaining – that’s very helpful. The reason that is happening comes down to the way WordPress handles templates depending on how your settings in Settings > Reading are set up.

The ‘Blog Home’/Front Page template you’re using will be displayed in the following circumstances:

    • As the front-page of your site if Settings > Reading is set to show the latest posts.
    • As the Blog/Posts page if Settings > Reading is set to show a static page.

It sounds as though you have a static page set under Settings > Reading which means that will use the ‘Page’ template.

Thanks, looks like removing the Static page option is the best way forward. ??
