• Switching domain and hosting services from GoDaddy to Fatcow. As it is I’ve made databases and downloaded it and everything else from GoDaddy and uploaded said files to FatCow. Domain registration is still pending at Fatcow though…

So, what do I do on Fatcow side to make sure when it finally switches everything is ready to go? There’s a WordPress Installation option in the Fatcow dashboard, do I utilize that at all?

Sorry about all the questions but Fatcow won’t help unless I pay them.

if You keep same domain name then you will need to change DNS setting at registrar

and install wordpress restore your back up database to new database and change database settings in wp_config.php

do i change registrar at the new site or old site, I’m sorry but your instructions are difficult to read without any punctuation.

Where ever you bought the domain name from as it can only one registrar if you bought from a host then you will have to contact them.

I always buy my domain name independent from my host so that I do not have go in hassle of transferring domain name.

Alright, I got that all down, regarding registrar and DNS.

But the “new” site is only showing part of the old stuff now that everything is transferred. And what exactly do I edit in the wp-config file? I know which file it is, and know the values, but what specifically am I editing.

You will need to possibly change…

    DB_NAME
    DB_USER
    DB_PASSWORD
    DB_HOST

    Inside of the wp-config.php file.

You can get this information usually by logging into the control panel provided by your hosting company.

Yep, I know the fields in question, I know where to access them, and I know how to edit them. Looking at it, those fields have info that looks like what the new host provides, and now I have a website that looks kinda like my site and kinda like a stock twentyten site, and none of my posts or pagges.

What literally do I put in those fields, and how do I restore my database?
