This is a very old blog, before the Media Library was added and I’ve kept using file paths /Pictures/YYYY/fileName.jpg for almost twenty years. If it will really speed things up and a tool will import and fix all the images I’ve uploaded in the last almost twenty years I’m willing to try. I backed up my database, I also backed up the directory with all the images in it.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hello @muskie

Thank you for reaching out and I am happy to help!
Can you please sahre more details on what you are tryying to achieve with the W3 Total Cache in this case?
IS this related to the CDN setup and serving images from the CDN or have you had anything else im mind?
Please clarify this so I can understand the issue.

    Thanks!

Yes I’m referring to this section:

The media library import tool is for old or “messy” WordPress installations that have attachments (images, etc., in posts or pages) scattered about the web server or “hot linked” to 3rd party sites instead of properly using the media library.

The tool will scan your posts and pages for the cases above and copy them to your media library, update your posts to use the link addresses and produce a .htaccess file containing the list of of permanent redirects, so search engines can find the files in their new location.

You should back up your database before performing this operation.

I indeed have an old blog dating from 2005 so if it is possible to import almost twenty years of images and get them to load faster I’m interested but I don’t know where the “Media Library Import” tool is. I looked in Tools and Media Library. Is this yet another plugin I need to add. I was running a really lean blog while I was living in China, but now I’m not and I seem to be sinking an ungodly amount of time into this blog of late.
