• Hi,
I just realize that my stock quantities are wrong. This looks like some orders have counted 2x the stock reduction, making the stock for some products at -2.
    https://snipboard.io/aJws1l.jpg
This shows on 1 order that the reduction of stock happened 2x in the same minute.
It does not happen all the time, I have examples for variable and simple products.
I got Woocommerce last version 8.9.0
Some orders are in April or May

    Thanks,
    Pierre

  • Hi @pierremichaux,

Thank you for reaching out to us. It seems like the stock reduction is being doubled on some orders, which is certainly unusual. Here are a few steps you can take that might help identify or resolve the issue:

    1. Conflict Testing: Sometimes, other plugins or themes can interfere with how WooCommerce functions. You can perform a conflict test by deactivating all other plugins except for WooCommerce and switching to a default theme like Twenty Twenty-One. If the issue resolves, reactivate each one by one to identify the culprit.
    2. Database Update: Ensure that all database updates are completed in WooCommerce. You can check this under WooCommerce > Status > Tools and look for any pending database updates.
    3. Stock Management Settings: Review the stock management settings under WooCommerce > Settings > Products > Inventory to ensure they are configured correctly.
    4. Order Statuses: Check if the orders with double stock reduction have unusual order statuses or transitions that could trigger the stock reduction twice.

If you could also provide the system status report, it would be very helpful. You can find the steps to generate this report here.

    Looking forward to your response.

    Good morning Afzal,
    Thanks for your reply.
We haven’t installed any new plugin, all was working fine before the latest update from Woo…
I have no new orders since Monday yet and the issue is not appearing for ALL orders…
Still, we got 5 examples in short time period.
Stock management is correct, I have made the check.

The stock was reduced to -2 after the status changed from pending payment to processing
I checked a good order, same status change but no double stock reduction…

I have attached the status report. https://we.tl/t-3T1SPvxXvX
Let me know what we can do…(Woo DB up-to-date already)

    Thanks,
    Pierre

    Hello Pierre @pierremichaux,

Thanks again for sharing further details on this.

This is indeed an unusual issue and not the default behavior of WooCommerce.

Looking at your system status report, I can notice you have 35 active plugins, it is possible one of these is the main culprit. To troubleshoot this further, could you please create a staging site and make test orders to try and replicate the issues?

Let us know if you are able to replicate it on your staging site.

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Hi,
Good morning. Yes, I know, 35 plugins can cause many issues.
However, last night, new order and no double deduction…
It is going to be hard to figure out what’s causing this as obviously it is not every order…

I have taken back all orders since the beginning of March…. Without fail…until April 25….
    – 25/04 #9712 Reduction in stock levels: Double room 25m2 (B) (#8351) 0→-1
    – 04/25 #9713 Reduction of stock levels: King room – Duo or couple (#8586) 0→-2
    – #9721 = OK
    – #9722 = OK
    – #9723 = OK
    – #9724 = OK
    – #9725 = OK
    – #9757 = OK 18/05
    – #9764 Stock levels reduced: King Room with Terrace – Single (#9492) 0→-2
    – #9767 = OK
Personally, I don’t see….variable, simple…it works, then not for some orders… The reservation stages do not show an obvious common point, Stripe or Alma, or a behavior of waiting, of abandonment… It always happens when the order goes from pending to in progress…but not for all orders…

    Hi @pierremichaux,

It can indeed be challenging to identify the root cause, especially when it’s not consistent with every order.

I would recommend keeping all your themes/plugins up-to-date and keeping an eye out for any discrepancies.

Should it happen again, please feel free to reach out to us for further troubleshooting.

I’ve been having the same problem for years.

The problem is not a conflict with other plugins.

In my case, it’s much worse, more than 400 requests per day. An average of 5% of cases cause this error. Imagine how our lives are. Unfortunately, since there are more cases, we’ll have to migrate to another platform.
