Hello, we sell our products via multiple subdomains, for e.g. “home-living.example.de”, “garden.example.de” and “tools.example.de”. The whole domain, including the subdomains, are run by us. Now if we try to activate the synchronization of the “home-living.example.de” listings & ads plugin, we receive the message that our merchant center has already claimed the domain “example.de”, which is correct, but it forces us to change the claimed domain to “home-living.example.de”.
The problem is that we need to activate the synchronization on all of the subdomains and connect it into one merchant center account.

  • Hey there, @kallekid! Thanks for contacting us. I’m happy to help you.

When you already have the top level domain?https://website.com?then you can add data feeds for subdomains such as?https://store.website.com

Can you please share which steps you are taking that are triggering this issue of asking you to switch the top level domain?

Can you share a screenshot of what you see on your end? I recommend using https://snipboard.io. You can share the direct link to the image as a response to this topic.

Furthermore, I’d like to understand your site properly. Please share with us the necessary information below for us to investigate the issue further:

System Status Report which you can find via WooCommerce > Status > Get system report > Copy for support.
Fatal error logs (if any) under WooCommerce > Status > Logs. Then you can use the selector to search for Fatal Errors.
You could copy and paste your reply here or paste it via https://gist.github.com/ and send the link here.

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Have a wonderful day!

    Hi @kallekid,

    Thank you for your response.

The problem is that we need to activate the synchronization on all of the subdomains and connect it into one merchant center account.

The issue is that you’re trying to connect the same merchant center account to multiple sub-domains, which is currently not possible. Sub-domains are treated as different sites, so each connection to a sub-domain is same as attempting a connection on another site. This means you’d have to override the connection to the previous domain. (Each new setup will impact the previous one)

Just to clarify, even if it was technically possible to connect the same merchant center account to different sub-domains (which it’s not), it’ll be a bad idea as a connection or account issue on one site would impact the other sub-domains. (there would also be a conflict if any of the sub-domains is using a different currency, etc.)

While I understand your preference is to connect the same merchant center account to all sub-domains, the recommended approach is to create a seperate merchant center account for all sub-domains. Use the same email, but create a new merchant center account for each sub-domain. This will allow you to manage all sub-domains merchant center account from one Google account. This way, you’ll be able to switch between the accounts in merchant center.

By the way, in the future, when sharing a screenshot with personal information with us, please use https://quickforget.com/. (I’ve pinged the forum moderators to remove your screenshots as it contains your email and merchant center ID)

    I hope this helps!

Thank you very much for the recommendation, we didn’t know that it was allowed to create multiple merchant center accounts for sub-domains. Are there special regulation we have to follow in regards to the sub-domain name being for example being “home-living.example.de” so we would have to call the name of the merchant center account “Example home & living” and also edit the logo to make it fitting or can everything stay like the main-domain name?

    Hi @kallekid,

Since this is a question regarding Google Merchant Center regulations, I’d say they’d be the better suited to answer this one. Could you reach out to them here, please?

    Keep us posted.
