IP Detection turned off for some sites after update

    We have hundreds of sites with Solid Security Basic. Recently after updating from 9.3.1 to 9.3.2, many of those sites suddenly show the banner:

    “Important: Some Solid Security features are disabled because IP Detection has not been configured.?Configure Now”

    I have to manually go in and select ‘Security Check Scan’ under ‘IP Detection’ or else go back into Features and recheck ‘Security Check Pro’. A lot of times, I find that ‘File Change’ has also been selected when previously it was toggled off.

    With many hundreds of sites, this is getting pretty tedious each time when I am performing updates. Will this be fixed?

    Hi @caordawebsol, thanks for reaching out.

    The removal of the “Automatic (Insecure)” IP detection option in v9.3.2 was a necessary change for Solid Security to avoid implications. However, if the site already has Security Check Pro enabled, updating should not reset the setting.

    We’ve received a couple of reports about the update causing the supposedly enabled Security Check Pro setting to be reverted, but we cannot replicate it in any of our test environments, so we cannot investigate it. However, this does not mean it is an issue that needs to be fixed because configuring that one setting back should resolve it, and the next version updates won’t affect that (unless we need to). So, while we don’t have a fix for this yet, as soon as we can replicate this on our end, we’ll surely provide one.

    I do understand that it can be tedious for users who manage a lot of sites to manually go into each site when they encounter this intermittent behavior. We absolutely hear you and will take this feedback into account to help us create a more streamlined process for the next updates.

    Hi.

    Many thanks for the reply. This has been happening pretty consistently (Security Check Pro gets turned off, File Change gets turned on) in all the sites I am updating (I update 300+ sites per month). All of them have had iThemes installed for a long time.
