• The S3 bucket is empty. I didn’t remove data. Amazon can’t help. Is it possible the plugin did this?

    Hi there!

WP Offload Media Support Team here, Thanks for reaching out with your query we would be happy to assist.

Have you deleted your media files via your Media Library? If yes, that could explain the issue. The Lite plugin can only remove files from your bucket if you delete an offloaded image permanently via your Media Library.

Other than that, it does not have the capability to remove files from your bucket since downloading and removing files from your bucket is a pro feature only. More info here –

    https://deliciousbrains.com/wp-offload-media/upgrade/

For the pro version, while you can remove files from bucket, it can only be triggered by using the plugin’s UI. Removing files from bucket cannot happen without a user triggering the action.

Also, if you remove files from bucket using the plugin, it will first download the files back to server before removing it to ensure you won’t encounter any issues.

We also have received reports before where customers lost images because of a conflict with the plugin Smush Pro. Do you also use that or any other image optimization plugins? ShortPixel has also been known to cause conflicts with WP Offload Media.

Another thing to look at is if you created more than one bucket. If so, it’s possible you’re looking at the wrong bucket. If this is the case, I suggest verifying where your files have been offloaded.

You can check this in two ways.

    1. Open a media file that has been offloaded on your Media Library > Check the bucket name and the details, see – https://share.zight.com/KoukzQvv > Compare
    2. Open your wp_as3cf_items database tables using something like phpMyAdmin > check the bucket name > Compare

If it’s the correct bucket and the images are broken on your Media Library then something may have happened to your bucket. I’m afraid you’ll need to reach out again to AWS support for assistance on this as they are better equipped to look into this for you. They may have some logs available to investigate the issue.
