  • Hi,
My first guess would be something to do with .htaccess. I have the following line in there which deals with that.

    ErrorDocument 404 /index.php?error=404

It works great. Let’s say you already have that. It looks like you have old WP in the root of your site, and apparently a tweaked version in the folder above. Maybe the .htacess in the root is fighting with the 404 processing in the new spot. That’s all I can guess from the outside.

    Hi Dave

Thanks for that. Im moving my testsite folder into the root on Sunday for the launch on Mon and getting rid of all other folders. So hopefully that might sort it. If not I will try and get my head around the ht access.

    Many thanks

    Claire

    Claire,
Great, sounds good. Doing a couple WP’s “together” can sometimes produce a strange brew due to permalinks and all. Yours is working better! And I’ll bet you’re right… “moving down” may sort it. 404 not working is a better problem to have than most. ??

You probably already know this, but you’ll just want to update the 2 main URL’s in Admin before moving, blog location and site location (my nomenclature may be off). And then your move should go swimmingly!

    Cheers, Dave
