File permissions

Hi,

I was wondering, is there a recommendation for file system permissions rwx? for the wordpress folders.

I had some issues with the hosting that I’m using right now, 000webhost, so I set at one point even 777 for the wp-content.
Now I would like to correct this and especially to prevent the default directory listings.

I tried to set a 664 on all the plugins directory and my plugin does not work anymore.

I’ve seen that it works if I set 664 on the index.php in each folder, but I would like to know though which are the file premissions recommended, and if there is any difference for each wp folder.
