One one of my WordPress installs I noticed that if a non-logged in user tries to leave a comment he is directed to a black wp-comments.php screen, and the comment never publishes.

I have noticed that this problem has been occurring for other WP publishers as well, but, even after searching through the forum, I have not found an answer that works.

Can someone please help me with this?

    Thanks,

    Wade

In Settings Discussion check your settings where only registered users can comment.

Thanks for the help, but this is not the problem. It is already checked to allow everyone to comment, and the comments have worked on this site for almost a year. Just recently it stopped functioning.

    Thanks,

-deactivating all plugins. If the problem goes away, activate them individually to find the culprit?

If you don’t have access to to your admin area, try deactivating them manually via FTP or phpMyAdmin.

-switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific issue?

If you don’t have access to your admin area, then access your server via FTP or SFTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.
