Site Kit not visible for Shop-Manager user role (by WooCommerce)

Hello @bronko59 and thanks for getting in touch. Site Kit provides Dashboard Sharing which allows users with the Administrator user role to share a restricted view of the Site Kit dashboard, WordPress Dashboard summary widget, and admin bar with other user roles, including non-administrators.

This is only for WordPress roles as you have stated so you will not be able to use this feature to grant access to WooCommerce roles. Dashboard Sharing does allow you to share Site Kit statistics with custom created WordPress user roles so you could create a new role WordPress for shop managers and share what you need to this way.

Okay thanks for the fast reply. I found a solution by installing the plugin “Members” which allows to set more than one user role per user. So if I share the Site Kit dashboard additionally with the role “contributor” and set the desired user as 1. Shop-Manager and 2. Contributor, the statistics are now visible. FYI, I was able to directly select the “ShopManager” role in the Site Kit Dashboard Sharing interface. It looks like the work-around is no longer necessary.

The issue still exists, as the only roles that are available in the site kit dashboard sharing (in my case, at least) are editor, author, administrator and contributor…no shop manager, no SEO manager and other roles I have. A standard capability that could managed by user role editor and similar plugin would be much much better.

I don’t think that Site Kit will have an update which allows to select custom user roles besides standard WP roles, so my solution was installing the pugin “User Role Editor” and add a 2nd role to user xy. By setting 2x roles (e.g. WooCommerce “Shop Manager” plus normal “Contributor”), these users have normal access to Site Kit statistics – just needs to be selected in Site Kit dashboard sharing options first.

@bronko59 Custom roles should appear for Dashboard Sharing users, as long as the roles have the edit_posts capability. You’ll find more on this here.
