Classic Editor Categories, Problem

  • Two blogs on different servers. About two weeks ago save all posts as the default (“Uncategorized”). If I unselect that and scroll the list, it rechecks it. No matter what I choose and save, it goes back to just “Uncategorized”.

    I have tried turning off ALL plugins. I have cleared the cache, and my cookies. I changed my theme. None of this fixed the problem.

    However, if I switch to Gutenberg it works fine.

    Tags work normally.

    I just tried different classic editor plugin, and have the same problem.

    I assume a recent WP update caused this. Can this plugin be modified to fix it?

    Do you know if maybe your hosting has some kind external strong object cache that would be keeping the queries from your database and bringing this issue? Could you check this please?

    I am having the very same problem at a site on Hostgator, https://movingpoems.com – switching to the block editor solves the problem. (Turning off all other plugins and switching themes had no effect.) Been having a lot of issues related to the recent PHP update on that server; don’t know whether that’s relevant.
