    Hey,

I’ve tried IThemes security on two different server settings, first on a VPS and now on Hostinger managed WP hosting. On both environments, the plugin has caused unnecessarily big loads on the server, causing website to slightly slow down, even though it is small website and perfectly fit for the hosting plan.

Currently, the plugin takes approximately 5% of the 1536 MB RAM available (as much as all the other plugins, themes and WP core in total), which is still manageable. But as soon as I activate the plugin, both the I/O and IOPS jump to 100% of available resources.

I haven’t been able to conclude what part of the plugin is reading and/or writing so actively, so I would like to seek some advice how to reduce its load on server. Can I manually control this, for example by adjusting scan schedules, database sizes, shortening log memory times, or other parameters?

If you can point to me to the correct direction, I can try manually adjust the settings, because besides this small nuisance, I really appreciate your plugin.

Hi @jedes, glad you reached out!

The only resource-intensive module of Solid Security is the?File Change. Does it help if you disable this feature? If not, can you try disabling the active Solid Security features one at a time to see if the load issue improves?

Can you check if you have a couple of scans and backups on your server happening at the same time and if so, try to manage the schedules and see if that will help?

Please let me know what you can find.

    Hi,

and thanks for your response! I temporarily disabled File Change and Site Scan features and activated the plugin, and the issue seems under control with this setup. Next I will try to switch them on one by one and see their individual impact, and coordinate with hosting provider if their scans and/or backups interfere/overlap with the plugin and cause unnecessary load.

Thank you, you pointed me to right direction, and from here on I believe I can manage.
