Am i totally screwed??

  • i’ve been having an issue with my site and now this happened. I was trying to reload the wordpress files/site i have on my home computer. Previously i was having an issue with logging in. I would log in and then get a blank screen(i couldn’t get to the dashboard etc.) I don’t us a wordpress blog but load it up to an .ftp..self hosting.

    So how do i get it back up or am i totally screwed.

    PS: As you can probably tell i’m sort of new to this. The site was working fine but I wanted to update the theme to one i download from graph paper press and thats when the trouble started.

    have you tried:

    -deactivating all plugins. If the problem goes away, activate them individually to find the cause.

    If you don’t have access to to your admin area, try deactivating them manually via FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    -switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific issue.

    If you don’t have access to your admin area, then access your server via FTP or SFTP.

    -If the above steps do not resolve the issue, Download WordPress again and replace your copies of everything except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies. This should replace your core files without changing your content and settings in wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory.

    Note that some uploaders may not overwrite files reliably, so delete the original files before replacing them.

    t-p….thanks for the help you’re a life saver. Got the site back up.
    I ended up just doing you last suggestion. A complete reload. I did have to repost some file but that ok.
