Upload theme on server problem (no write acces)

    Hay there,

    I have this problem when I want to upload a downloaded theme. When I try to upload the .zipfile it sais:

    In dutch:
    Kan map /var/www/vhosts/nickdesign.nl/httpdocs/wp-content/uploads niet aanmaken. Is de bovenliggende map beschrijfbaar door de server?

    In English:
    Cant make folder /var/www/vhosts/nickdesign.nl/httpdocs/wp-content/uploads
    Is the upper folder (wp-content) writeble by the server?

    Does anyone now how to solve this problem?

    Change the permissions on the wp-content directory to 766. If you still have problems, try 767 or 777. Once your uploads are working, change the permissions on wp-content back to 755 again and check that everything still works OK.

    Hay,
    I tried all the numbers but it wont work with that theme, other themes do work with 777, they didn’t before. So i guess we have 1 problem solved, but now we have a new problem.
    It sais something diffrent now:

    The uploaded file can not be moved to /var/www/vhosts/nickdesign.nl/httpdocs/wp-content/uploads.

    Does anyone knows what to do?

    You might want to try downloading another copy of that theme. If the problem is theme specific, it suggests that there’s a problem with the theme archive file.

    try uploading the theme using FTP/SCP to the themes DIR instead of using the wordpress inbuilt installer, then just activate it.
