Thank you for your UPDATE. For the past two nights, I have been trying to get the PayPal Payment Plugin to work; without success. Debit and credit cards are not being displayed, vaulting cannot be influenced, etc… Now I came across your comment, found the old plugin, installed it – and lo and behold! It works perfectly!

Thanks for you reply and for the explanation regarding the discontinuation of PayPal Standard.

I will be direct. As soon as the older API will be disable, I’d rather have a site without Paypal than with PayPal Payments. I think the PayPal Payments integration is a failure (I will give some examples). PayPal Standard seems much better integrated. That the problem does not necessarily come from the plugin itself but rather from a compatibility problem doesn’t change anything in practice: we don’t have this compatibility problem with PayPay Standard and this is very important. Compatibility issues are a big problem in WordPress. The fewer we are likely to have, the better it is. However, I have never had the slightest compatibility problem with PayPal Standard. Actually, I’ve never had any problems at all with PayPal Standard.

And it’s not just a compatibility issue. The page order takes much more time to load with PayPal Payments (about 5-8 seconds versus 2-3 seconds with PayPay Standard). Loading time is fundamental. I make sure that all pages on my site load in less than 2 seconds. I don’t remember if PayPal Payments also slows down the other pages (I think it was the case… 1/2 second maybe. I can’t remember. I haven’t noticed any loading issues with PayPal Standard).

Another problem. With PayPal Payments you can order without specifying a parcelshop (Point Relais). Which should not happen. With PayPal Standard, you will get a message asking you to indicate an parcelshop. Which shows to me a better integration of PayPal Standard.

With PayPal Standard, when you click on PayPal on the order page, the payment button changes from “Order” to “Pay with PayPal”. It’s a detail but it shows better integration.
