    Hello Team,

There appears to be a bug related to activity updates containing YouTube links. While the plugin generates a thumbnail preview before posting, upon clicking ‘Post’, the thumbnail fails to display. Instead, a large post with the text and link to the video appears, along with excessive white space. I’ve provided an example YouTube link here: YouTube Link. Please note that this issue isn’t isolated to this particular link; several others exhibit the same behavior with a similar format YouTube video link. Here are the steps to replicate the problem:

    1. Navigate to website.com/activity.
    2. Click on ‘Status’, enter some text, and paste a YouTube link provided above.
    3. Click ‘Post’.

I’ve attached a screenshot illustrating the issue for your reference: https://ibb.co/r2XvRsd

    Hello @shaunj

Sorry for late reply. We missed this thread.

May I know what Youzify version do you use? Also, please make sure “Video” post type enabled on Youzify Panel >> General Settings >> Wall Settings. Because if the “Video” post type disabled, the youtube URL won’t be generated as playable video.

    Best Regards, KaineLabs Team.

No worries, @kainelabsteam. I’m currently using the free version of Youzify, version 1.2.5.

Additionally, I’ve verified that the ‘Video’ post type is already enabled in the Youzify Panel under General Settings > Wall Settings.

    Hello @shaunj

Sorry for the late reply we just back from the weekend.
On the Yozuify Panel >> Wall Settings, have you enabled URL Live Preview?

    https://ibb.co/4jvswvj

If the Live Preview is enabled already, but the problem persists another question, Does it happen with the Youtube URL only or with another URL too? Please try to share the URL from an external website and see if the URL preview works or not.

    Hello @kainelabsteam,

The URL Live Preview option in the Yozuify Panel >> Wall Settings is already enabled.

I attempted to post a status with a Vimeo video, and that worked seamlessly. However, I encountered an issue specifically with posting YouTube videos.

    Hello @shaunj,

Please try with full format youtube URL instead of youtu.be. For example

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7IgQpKJ-K0

    Instead of

    https://youtu.be/U7IgQpKJ-K0?si=8lXV4wQ9WPr4K3dt

Also, please try with another Youtube video.

    Best Regards, KaineLabs Team.

    Hello @kainelabsteam,

I have tried various YouTube videos, using both full format and short URLs, and the results have been quite inconsistent. Some videos showed preview for both formats, some neither, and for others, only one of the formats showed the preview.

    Hello @shaunj

Can you please send me some example of youtube URL that does not work on your side?

I will test it on my side.

Hello @kainelabsteam, here is one of YouTube videos that I found is not generating a preview:

    Hello @shaun,

Thank you for the video URL

You’re right. A few specific YouTube videos are not compatible with the WordPress embed system (not only with Youzify). It may be because the video source has low resolution.

You can test and compare the video you shared with another video. For example this video:

    https://youtu.be/U7IgQpKJ-K0?si=a3JdU5mapM1HIU3K

    Please do the following:

    1. Open and create a new post on the WP Admin dashboard
    2. Copy and paste the video to the WordPress editor I shared above and you will see it will be converted automatically to a playable video
    3. On the other side, you will not see the same thing happen with the video you shared

Kindly check this video for more details:

    https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/l6wifmabp1jk2b9ieqfrn/video_embed.mp4?rlkey=ppxrychkmkyqky31sr2zhy67f&dl=0

We will try to do some research and try our best to find a solution to this issue. However, at the moment, please share a YouTube video with standard or high resolutions so it can be converted automatically to playable video. ??

    Best Regards, KaineLabs Team.

    Hello @kainelabsteam,

Thank you for acknowledging the issue.

Just to clarify, when you mentioned low resolution, are you referring to the video’s quality? It’s worth noting that the video you shared, despite being in 720p resolution, is generating the preview as expected. However, the video I provided, which boasts a higher quality of 1080p, is unfortunately not generating the preview.

I hope this clarification helps in diagnosing the issue more accurately.

    Hello @shaunj

To be honest, regarding the video resolution is only my assumption. ??

However, I don’t know exactly why this issue happens. It happens because of incompatibility between WordPress and a few YouTube videos where it’s out of our control.

We are still doing research. In addition, you can report and ask it through the WordPress forum:

    Hello @kainelabsteam,

It’s helpful to have insights into the possible causes, even if they’re assumptions.

I understand that this issue might be beyond your control due to compatibility issues between WordPress and certain YouTube videos. Your ongoing research is much appreciated, and I’m hopeful that a solution can be found.

    Thank you.

    Hi @shaunj

We have sent a message asking this to the WordPress team. However, until now we did not receive any answer. I can not promise you to solve this issue since it is out of our control. However, we will try our best to do deeper research about this.

I will mark this thread as resolved, however, if you find another issue or need other assistance, feel free to open a new thread.

    Best Regards, KaineLabs Team
