Site Kit was showing an error message about authorizing connecting the the new Property. So many times I tried to complete that but would get an error. I want to advertise on Google Ads and without Site Kit I can’t so this is now a big issues.

I have spent a day troubleshooting this. Things I have done:

    1. uninstalled & reinstalled the plug-in
    2. Site kit refuses to conntect. Failed at verification stage by looping me back to my own site and log in page.
    3. I delved into my own site and disabled Loginizer security and left the wp-admin as the admin login page for now.
    4. Reset .htaccess to default wordpress
    5. Recreated salt keys using wordpress api
    6. cleared all cache on site
    7. downloaded the health & troubleshooting. Disabled all plugins – same behavior with the site kit set-up. It will not complete
    8. I have two admin user accounts and tried with both accounts. No one else is an admin but me.
    9. I have two google accounts to manage all my other sites. On the main account which was connected, I trashed my website in it.
    10. I then re-set my website using my personal google account that has never seen my website.
    11. Try to reconnect, same thing.
    12. Of course, cleared all browser cookies, and have been using inprivate windows – same behaviour
    13. Site kit failed at verification stage. So I went directly to google property in my personal google login and was able to verify the website from Google side using the file you download and upload to the main public directory and addiing txt to DNS
    14. Site kit now doesnt get to verify page, I get the approve the 7 site kit, say yes, get a notice on my phone and then bang – right back to my login page.
    15. Please help

Hello @raarka, thanks for reaching out to us and for the detailed steps you have taken so far in troubleshooting this. To start, please could I ask you to share the following:

    1. Your?Site Health information. You can?use this form?to share privately if preferred.
    2. It sounds like you have previously changed your wp-admin path. Can you confirm if you have previously done this and also if you have changed your domain at any stage while Site Kit was connected?
    3. At which stage in the setup does it fail and what message are you seeing when this happens? Please feel free to share a recording of this which will help.
    4. Did you initially have Site Kit setup and working on your site?

If you have any questions on the above please let me know.

Hello and thank you for your reply as I need to get this fixed.

    1. I have a Loginizer license and utilized Loginizer to change it. I have utilized their software on about 10 other sites I manage with no issues. They all have site kit running. To rule-out this issue, I have uninstalled Loginizer. I removed references that loginizer added to .htaccess and it is now at the default setting.
    2. The domain has always been zenithmedicine.com from inception. I did just via cpanel turn on force redirect to https. I also toggled this off and attempted again with same results.
    3. Here are the steps I just retried again and it failed:
    1. Goto WordPress Dashboard
    2. Setup Site Kit, click sign in with Google
    3. 1st Dialog: Choose an account dialog – I choose my personal gmail account
    4. 2nd Dialog: Sign in to Site Kit
    5. 3rd Dialog: Site Kit wants additional access to your Google Account. Site Kit already has some access.
    6. After clicking continue to above dialog box, it takes me back to my website and I get my 404 page. The link here displaying in the address bar:  https://zenithmedicine.com/wp-admin-lzsm8Iu6zFN57TqFy0bnNaE/?action=googlesitekit_proxy_exchange_site_code&googlesitekit_code=sitekit-R795RfgRn4pTzWpBPi39J&googlesitekit_site_code=4%2F0AeaYSHANcaqWYt4eFJzJFkZrqdzuk0hXCE5fonOUVUXKJDAujtTrO1WU4s6jm0h33JQETQ&nonce=00ca732d09&step=verification

    4. Yes initially site kit was working. I had an error on my Site Kit Dashboard that said I needed to Approve a tag or something, normally these things are easy so I just click on approve and it started erroring from there. This is what started the whole thing. It looked like statistics were collecting. But I could never do the approve. The zenithmedicine domain was set-up under a different e-mail address that I use for my web system administrator side. Given I was having problems, I deleted this domain from this account, thinking to try and eliminate this. I have since been trying to set-up Site Kit using a personal Google account starting fresh. It wont install. I again, as above, try to come at this the other way, logged into Google and set-up this domain in my personal account. I even got it verified on Google’s side. I was thinking if it verified on this end, then (that was the step it was failing on) I should get past that dialog — but now to no avail. I don’t get to the verification dialog now – just as above.

    5. I normally create all my web management account using (co****@****.net) account. In cloud console, under this account which I already have billing configured etc for all the sites. I created ZenithMedicine API for Maps. The map is still displaying fine on my site and the API key is in my wordpress. I dont want to complicate things but initially site kit was also under that email I always use for wp admin. ZM under that email, I trashed the property for site kit and tried, as above, to set-up using my personal gmail account. Can two accounts be used separately – 1 for Site Kit and other for Cloud? I just attempted to use my main address where everything was, and still errors.

@raarka Thank you for the follow up and the details you have shared. I can see from the steps you have shared that the callback URL doesn’t look quite right. Could you please first try going through the steps again and when you reach the 404 page, adjust the URL in the browser to the following:

    https://zenithmedicine.com/wp-admin/?action=googlesitekit_proxy_exchange_site_code&googlesitekit_code=sitekit-R795RfgRn4pTzWpBPi39J&googlesitekit_site_code=4%2F0AeaYSHANcaqWYt4eFJzJFkZrqdzuk0hXCE5fonOUVUXKJDAujtTrO1WU4s6jm0h33JQETQ&nonce=00ca732d09&step=verification

If you update and go to this URL are you able to complete the setup? If not, we can try a Site Kit reset. Could you please try performing a reset to the plugin and setting up once more. When doing this, do you encounter the same issue as before?

Can two accounts be used separately – 1 for Site Kit and other for Cloud?

Yes, this is not an issue. If you are trying to use multiple accounts in Site Kit for the separate modules then this would cause problems but otherwise this won’t be an issue. Please try the above suggestions and let me know how these go for you.

Hello. At the point of the 404, I tried twice to replace with the link. I received :

The link you followed has expired. Please try again. Retry didn’t work? Get Help.

Please let me know. Thank you.

@raarka Thanks for trying and sorry to hear this didn’t resolve the issue for you. Could you also confirm if you tried the Site Kit reset option?

One thing we could try here is to check your records on the service to see if there is a mismatch but before this we can run through a few more checks.

    1. Does the same happen if you try using a different gmail account or email if you have one to use?
    2. When you hit the 404 page do you see any console errors that you can share?
    3. Could you share a recording of this happening please if possible?

Let me know if you have any questions on the above.

    Hello.

I used the form to submit link to video and console errors.

    1. Yes same thing happens on either account. You will see both the accounts in the video
    2. There were console errors. I put those errors in the form.
    3. Recording shared, link in the form.

    Thank you.

The console errors I researched were from Jet Pack and fairly benign. I deactivated Jetpack and those errors didnt not appear, however same result with Site Kit.

I had already deactivated all plugins initially and got same error with Site Kit.

@raarka Thanks for sharing all of the information. At this stage I think it’s worth a check of your saved records on the Site Kit service. I will get these checked for you and report back as soon as I have an update for you.
