Feedback on prototype: 3 columns to 2 cols
-
Inspired by Root’s upcoming Aphrodite and the ideas which he has provided in this forum and his site, I’ve also developed a proof of concept theme that switches from 3 columns to 2 columns.
A couple of interesting (technical) notes:
- This theme utilises the fact that home.php executes before index.php.
- The front page is deliberately styled differently from the other pages
- The latest post is handled differently from older posts without any modifications to the WP setup or any special plugins.
- The latest post is dynamically generated and not hardcoded.
- The older posts (i.e. middle column) show the excerpts instead of the main content. For example, check out the post ‘These arena€?t the droids youa€?re looking for’ and compare with the front page
The design is a bit slapdash at the moment (esp. the css) but any feedback would be much appreciated. Anything goes really; how it looks on other browsers (esp. Safari as I don’t have a Mac), what I should be placing in the various columns, possible suggestions etc…
