    Hi,

I am trying to test Matomo and I would like to continue using CookieYes to control the user consent.

According to this: https://www.cookieyes.com/documentation/cookie-banner-matomo/?chapter=2 there is one script that needs to be introduced to the header of the website just below the Matomo Tag Manager.

I understand this process is similar to what Matomo describes in https://matomo.org/faq/how-to/using-cookieyes-consent-manager-with-matomo/ , step 1.

My question is if the plug-in can add the necessary code (in step 1 in Matomo link, or in CookieYes step 1 in section To Block Tags Before Cookie Consent), or does it need to be done manually? If so, any guidance for how to do this using functions.php and add the code exactly in the required position (just below the matomo tag manager), or as per matomo guidance, beneath the CookieYes code.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi @josssv,

    Greetings from CookieYes!

You should add the script mentioned in step 1 to your active theme’s header.php file, just below the Matomo Tag Manager script.

Hello and thanks for your reply! Yes, I understood that I could add the script in my theme’s header.php. That is where the problem resides. For some reason, I do not have/find that file in my theme (inspiro blocks, free version). That makes a bit more challenging to add the script. I thought that a bit different script in functions.php could be a work around, but then the script needs to detect exactly where to put the text. Any thoughts or suggestions are more than welcome!

Reading your response more carefully, I realized that you indicated step 1. However, in both links I provided there is a step 1. Should I follow Matomo or CookieYes guidelines? That is also the part that is confusing… Not clear if both links are aiming at the same but doing it differently.

    Hi @josssv,

It’s better that you follow one documentation at a time as both of this seems to be different approach. Also, if you have any doubt in Matomo’s documentation it’s better that you clarify with their support team.

Thank you! I will then follow one of the two instructions. At the end, the problem is the same in both cases. There is a text to add in a specific location in the headers.

    Hi @josssv,

Sorry that we couldn’t get back to you soon as we were cross-checking the implementation mentioned in our documentation. So we recommend you follow this?documentation?without using the CookieYes plugin as the steps will vary while using the plugin and we are still working on it to create a separate documentation for plugin users.

Regarding your concern with adding the script to the header using the Inspiro blocks theme, it’s better to contact their support or use any third-party plugin which allows you to add scripts to the header.
