When I post https://solowebsolutions.com into Facebook, it pulls the wrong image. I have come across instructions to go to Yoast > Social but that doesn’t exist. It doesn’t make a difference if I enter the proper image in Yoast > Settings >Homepage > Social media appearance. And yes, I cleared the cache for the browser and my site. On top of that, if I delete the image, save, and refresh, the image is still there.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hello @cheryls,

Thanks for reaching out about your social sharing image. I tested the URL in the Facebook sharing debugger and got the error below:

Image Too Small: Provided og:image URL, https://solowebsolutions.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/logo-color-resp-sm.jpg was not valid because it did not meet the minimum size constraint of 200px by 200px.

It means the image you have uploaded is small

I have come across instructions to go to Yoast > Social but that doesn’t exist.

Please share a screenshot of what you have in WordPress > Yoast SEO > Settings > Content Types > Homepage. You can use any image-sharing service like https://pasteboard.co/, https://snag.gy/, https://imgur.com/, https://snipboard.io/, or even upload the screenshot to your own website. Once you upload it to an image-sharing service, please share the link to the image here.

My theme resized the image to 300×140.

I uploaded a different logo to my website, but the sharing debugger doesn’t show it.

Here is the link to what I see when I try to add the logo in Yoast > Settings > Content types > Homepage: https://pasteboard.co/Zomzr0aZ9FXK.png

Here’s what the page looks like in the debugger – https://pasteboard.co/mHDeHsjiWiqO.png. Is that the new image you uploaded?

    (@cheryls)

No, that’s the old image, and never the correct image I might add.

The correct image is /solo-web-solutions-logo2.png, which is cropped to 600×140 per the theme’s request.

I’m not sure where it pulls from, plus I was told that this is now a premium feature. Is that correct?

I understand you’ve uploaded your preferred image for Homepage from the Yoast > Settings > Content types > Homepage. You mentioned the correct image solo-web-solutions-logo2.png, which is cropped to 600×140.

Please note, as mentioned previously this size is smaller and doesn’t meet the Facebook image size recommendation. Please try a bigger size as it should work. Yoast SEO settings doesn’t itself crop the image.

I try not to crush the thread and open my own when I am ready, just saying my og:image is also messed up and it goes back to Yoast. I don’t know more yet, just wanted to add that there is another same/similar case

I feel a bit silly. I assumed I needed to use the image I was using for my header. In reality, I was able to enter a different image in Yoast. I used an image that is 600×600, larger than the required 200×200. It works beautifully now.

Then maybe my case is not similar and I’ll need to open my own thread. In my case the wrong og:image is suddenly shown. It shows an image on the homepage that is not defined anywhere as og:image or featured image. It’s not even on the same page, not in the source code, nowhere. It’s just taking that image from a completely different post as the og:image on the homepage. Completely out of the blue, the only workaround to manually define a featured image on that particular page.

Troubleshooting takes way more time than just setting it manually per page unfortunately.

It sounds very similar to mine, actually. It was grabbing an image in the body of my home page. It started fairly recently. Go to Yoast > Settings > Content Types > Homepage and under Social Media Appearance, enter an image that is a minimum of 200×200 > Save. Then go to https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/ and ask it to debug (or rescrape if you’ve already been there). See if that makes a difference.

I hear you re: troubleshooting; seems like I spend most of my time there.

I have seen that from your previous post, but I have only “You can determine the title and description for the homepage by editing the homepage itself.” at Yoast > Settings > Content Types > Homepage

    Perhaps you have Yoast Premium?

Yes, I would say, one full-time job is troubleshooting plugins & compatibility. To some extent I like it to be part of it to improve the entire eco system. But the other side is – you need a second full time job to make a living

No, I have the free version.

Under Yoast > Settings > Site features is Open Graph data (under sharing) enabled?

Yes it’s enabled. I am on version 22.0. Do you have the same version?

    Thread Starter CherylS

    (@cheryls)

    Yes

    I checked your screenshot: https://pasteboard.co/Zomzr0aZ9FXK.png
and compared it with mine https://pasteboard.co/BtdfFZ3i2VJA.jpg

I also checked the same for other post types I have. Here I can see the settings but greyed out as it’s only for Premium users: https://pasteboard.co/IfbR6FlgB2OQ.jpg

Somehow it looks like you are on the premium version.

Now I am really getting curious about this

Interesting, and out of my wheelhouse. Sorry
