Hi all, I would like to shine a spotlight on this plugin by Shabti for Front End creating and editing of Posts. Some months ago, I made the switch from Joomla to WordPress and built some websites for mostly personal use. Much to my surprise, some things were WAY easier and others way more complicated to do in WP. Providing a productive frontend creation and the “editing of Posts” function was one of those challenges. You should know that I also use ACF for some additional Taxonomies to create a nice “database” of Posts that I use for tracking and content management tracking purposes for another “live / production” site.

You would think that WP has features to support this that would be built-in, but it does not. You might also think that there is a plethora of plugins that would enable this functionality, but that is not so easy either. For example, there are several “form plugins” that claim to support front-end creation and editing of Posts, but they either are convoluted to configure, or truly treat “Post creations” as “form entries”.

I don’t want that to work that way. I want the frontend function to directly create or update posts without creating any other entries in the system. Well, guess what? I found this plugin more or less by accident and it works great for what I want it to do. I have two forms: one for creating new “Posts” and one for editing an existing Post, with all the extra ACF taxonomies, including date picker fields in Field Groups. Turning off “Save Submittals” makes all activities “direct ones” for Posts.

Furthermore, with the shortcode function and Modal mode option, it is SUPER easy to add a button to your theme, which is Yootheme Pro in my case. When clicked, a nice and clean Modal window pops up to enable the work you want to get done. Also, the option to add any new Taxonomy entries is easily configured or disabled in the form. For things like Categories, I don’t want to have new ones added, but for Tags, I want to be able to add them on the fly.

In short, IF you are wrestling with any frontend Post management issues, check out this plugin. I would not have called it Frontend Admin but something like Frontend Post Forms, as this is more about enabling a VERY IMPORTANT core CMS function in a very straightforward manner. Highly RECOMMENDED.
