You can safely use the official IndexNow plugin alongside TSF; however, we have found no concrete evidence this helps with improved indexing performance over our optimized sitemap.
From IndexNow’s FAQ:
I have a sitemap, do I need IndexNow?
Yes, when sitemaps are an easy way for webmasters to inform search engines about all pages on their sites that are available for crawling, sitemaps are visited by Search Engines infrequently. With IndexNow, webmasters ”don’t” have to wait for search engines to discover and crawl sitemaps but can directly notify search engines of new content.
Their claim is only valid when ignoring the ability to ping sitemaps to search engines.
Pinging is a feature TSF supports natively, even with distinct prerendering support for giant websites. All this is togglable at “SEO Settings > Sitemap Settings > Ping,” but I recommend leaving the defaults for most websites. You must also enable the <lastmod> feature (found under the Metadata tab) so that search engines can quickly find updated pages, which is also enabled by default.
Please note that indexing doesn’t correlate to ranking. It is only a prerequisite.
