    Hi,

There was an update planned for this week. I managed to squeeze a new option under HEADINGS > HEADINGS HASH > Show hash in URL.

It is activated by default. Make sure to turn it off and the URL will not change when clicking a link.

Make sure to update to v.2.1.2 to see that option.

    Hi @wpjoli,

    great, thank you! it works!

There is one other thing and that is: I work a lot with blog posts and seo and I know that Toc can also cause duplicate content. Can you imagine that we add robots and set the toc to no index ? for example we can use the plugin from Rank Math.

    best regards

The v2.1.2 also adds an option to mark the links with the rel=”nofollow” attribute.

Could you please give more details about this ?

One more thing, the next update will add an option to generate the SiteNavigationElement Schema.

    Hi,

The issue is that the headlines appear twice on a page which can have a negative effect on rankings. I have looked at other websites that achieve very good rankings and they trick it a bit.
Some don’t use toc at all and others just use keywords as headings. If you want I can show you some examples. In any case, the best option would be to set the whole toc to no index as far as it is technically possible.

Another idea of mine: give us the possibility to set a text other than the heading, like a placeholder that you can write freely.

    best regards

Thank you for your extra details.

I would happily look at examples that you are willing to share here or that you can send directly to [email protected]

FYI, Joli TOC comes with many hooks that let you customize it. For example, if you need to wrap the TOC in some noindex tags, you can add custom HTML before and after the actual toc with:

    see joli_toc_before_table_of_contents and joli_toc_after_table_of_contents

Also, using the block, you can easily edit each heading label on the TOC using the pencil icon while editing your post.

    I hope this helps.
