Hello, I am trying to upload many products in bulk. I have already seen several videos and I understand how to do it. However, I have a doubt.

I currently have hundreds of simple products uploaded to my website but now I would like to convert them into variables because I want to add the “Width” and “Length” attributes. Capture sample:

As you can see, I only have one product but they would all have the same attributes (Width and Length) with the same values. That is, only the value corresponding to each one would change.

    My question is:

How can I upload all the new products by changing them to variables and not have to edit them one by one?

    Hello monicaamb12,

    Thank you for contacting?WooCommerce?support.

I understand that you’re looking to bulk upload product variations for your existing simple products, and you’re keen to add “Width” and “Length” attributes to them without having to edit each one individually.

You’re on the right track by considering the use of a CSV import to handle this in bulk. The specific method for doing this will depend on which tool or plugin you are using to import the product variations.

It is indeed possible to format a CSV with your variations and then import it to update your existing product entries, converting them to variable products with associated “Width” and “Length” attributes.

To provide you with the best guidance on how to proceed, could you please tell me:
    – How many Parent Products do you currently have on your website?
    – How many Child Variations (based on “Width” and “Length”) will each Parent Product have?

Additionally, to ensure that we can offer advice tailored specifically to your site’s setup, please send me a copy of your site’s System Status Report. You can obtain this report by following these steps:

    1. Go to WooCommerce > Status in your WordPress dashboard.
    2. Click on ‘Get system report.’
    3. Then click on ‘Copy for support.’

Once you have the report copied, you can paste it into a new “Gist” at https://gist.github.com. After creating the Gist, please paste the link to the Gist here in your reply.

This information will help us understand your current setup and guide you through the process of bulk updating your products more efficiently.

I appreciate your cooperation and look forward to your response so we can assist you further. ??

    Best regards.

Thank you very much for you reply and help.

I am not actually using any plugin to import. Just the function that WooCommerce offer to export and import products.

    • I have 265 products in total and all of them will have the attributes “Width” and “Length”
    • Width: Between 50-80
    • Length: Between 60-150

    Thank you!

But as I see in the guide it is just for one product.

My aim is to convert 300 simple products into variable products and not one by one.

Is this possible my achieve with the guide you shared me?

    Maybe I didn’t understand it.

    Hello monicaamb12,

    Thank you for your reply.

To process 300 products, you can repeat the same steps (step 1 to step 4) as mentioned in the guide.

For instance, in the CSV file, you can begin with row 1 containing the Parent data, and then subsequent rows can be used for variations.
Then after variations you can add another Parent and then again subsequent rows can be used for variations.

    Parent
    variation-1
    variation-2
    variation-3
    Parent
    variation-1
    variation-2
    variation-3

Please let me know if you have any further questions or need any assistance. ??

    Best regards.
