    Hi There,

I just want to know about different IP recorded by Wordfence whenever I log in on my WordPress website. My public IP address (for example 124.145.X5.X) and Wordfence’s tools options display different IP addresses (like 162.45.X5.X). I am wondering about it for security purposes and want to know the exact reason. I am using the same plugin on a different website which is working fine, showing the exact login IP address.

Can anyone please help me out why I am getting different login IP address on Wordfence dashboard?

Appreciated for any small information or help.

    Thanks

Hi @digital980, thanks for your question.

IP detection being wrong may be a problem longer-term as a legitimately triggered block for somebody else may block all visitors including yourself. Take note of your own IP on your main device: https://www.whatsmyip.org.

Head over to Wordfence > All Options > General Wordfence Options > How does Wordfence get IPs and reference the area under that section that says Detected IPs and Your IP with this setting. See if any of the options there when picked accurately reflect your IP. If one does, don’t forget to hit the SAVE CHANGES button in the top-right after you’re done.

I hope that helps you out!
    Peter.

Thanks Peter, for providing valuable solution of my problem. I just checked the detected IP under General Wordfence Options, which is not matched with my public IP (that’s fine).

Is there any way to change the detected IP to my public IP? I noticed the Edited Trusted Proxies option, and I do not have any proxies service at the moment.

Again thank you to share the solution.

    Hi @digital980,

You should be able to cycle through the other options until the IP displayed does match with your public IP, in which case you can choose that and save changes.

Do none of the options available ever match your public IP? If that’s the case, you may need to consult your host to ensure visitor IPs are being passed to your site for Wordfence to detect.

Let me know how that goes,
    Peter.
