I have a WordPress blog on a GoDaddy-hosted site, and I’m using the “search engines blocked” option because it’s the best fit for my needs.

I’d still like to set up Google Analytics to see who’s using it. But will that undermine that level of privacy? (i.e. will Google decide to index and show it in search results)?

  • google won’t index your site because your using google analytics.

I would add a robots.txt file and use this https://www.robotstxt.org/faq/prevent.html

that will make sure that google will not index your site.

Great, thanks! A quick followup: I host more than one blog – this blocked one has a separate domain name but the files are in a subdirectory of my primary, public site.

If I put robots.txt in that subfolder, that won’t be telling robots to ignore the primary site, will it?

I’m obviously not hyperlinking between the two blogs.

    Thanks!
