External Product URL gives a 404 or “insecure form” error
-
Howdy, I have a WooCommerce store for a client. They recently moved towards selling print editions of their books through an external site. Adding a product URL as an “external/affiliate product” works just fine, except that the link that the “buy product” button produces returns a “content insecure” error. Both the WooCommerce site and the external site have valid SSL certificates and https redirects. The URL is entered as “https” in the product URL field. But basically no matter what I do, clicking the link in Chrome gives an error that the content is “not secure”. This happens not only with the product url, but other test urls like a bitly link. I think what might actually be happening is WooCommerce is stripping out the “s” in the https link entered in the URL field, as sometimes the URL is always entered as an https link but will show as http when you back into the product page.
Another issue is that when the link does actually correctly come-through as “https”, WooCommerce seems to be adding an “=” sign to the end of the URL, which causes it to 404. I checked multiple times and the URL is not entered with that “=” on the end, but clicking the “buy product” button takes you to a URL that’s identical to what’s entered… but with an “=” sign on the end.
WordPress and WooCommerce are both completely up to date. I am really at a loss for what could be causing this, any help is appreciated.
