• Hello,

after upgrading to version 2.4.1, the references are now directly displayed within the text instead of the numbers. Are you aware of this issue?

    Thanks

  • No – sorry to hear that. I’m not sure that I understand the problem. Can you please give me an example.

Thanks for getting back. First, I would like to confirm that the issue only happens in the latest release. I rolled back to version 2.3.0 and everything works now as normal.

The plugin isn’t working on WooCommerce products which the description is using?WP?Bakery. Each Woocommerce single product page has the Description tab and in my case this is designed using WPBakery. So when I place a reference using the open and closing tags (()) it simply displays the whole reference instead of a number.

I can confirm that this is only happening on Woocommerce and more specifically in the Descriptions tab.

    Thank you

Supporting @kmammasis here’s how it looks, on my site’s post pages.

The reference section at the last is being created and is perfect just that the ((reference text)) isn’t being replaced with the footnote identifiers.

Interesting, can you please paste the raw text – no need to be the whole thing, just the part that is related to the footnote itself.
As far as I can see – there is no space before “((“, would you please confirm that there is no space also set in the General Settings->Open footnote tag, or just screenshot the markup section of the settings, so far I can not reproduce this unfortunately…

@sdobreff I was quick to notice the space before “((” in the settings, so I have already tried testing both, with or without space in the settings correspondingly adding a space before (( in the posts.

    Here’s the entire paragraph:

Most recent data about the breeding and slaughtering of animals for food has revealed that a staggering?92.2 billion land animals are killed every year?according to the Food and Agriculture Organization.((Kitty Block, ‘A Humane World’,?The Humane Society of the United States, 5 Jun 2023, https://blog.humanesociety.org/2023/06/more-animals-than-ever-before-92-2-billion-are-used-and-killed-each-year-for-food.html))

Here’s a snapshot of the reference generated with it:

Forgot to mention that, for me this problem is with both 2.4.0 and 2.4.1, however I rolled back to 2.3.0 and it’s now working.

The only possible solution I can recommend you is to stay with the 2.3 and ignore any future updates (sorry for that) unless there is no specific note about fixing the issue.

Hope that there will be more information about the problem or maybe some way to reproduce it…

This is not about the spacing because I’ve checked it multiple times and is defined correctly. This is something related to the latest release and applies only WooCommerce single product pages (i.e. Description Tab). I guess that for some reason the corresponding css class is not applied correctly on those pages. The footnotes are being displayed as a simple <a href=””> with a link; I’d expect there to at least be a CSS class or something.

My case is exactly the same as the example shown by @pranavmahapatra.

    Hope this helps

    Hey there,

The problem was identified and fixed in v.2.4.2 – please check and confirm.

Note – if you install 2.4.1 you will see the problem here: https://readable-addax-4b7938.instawp.xyz/product/product-name/
And after upgrade to 2.4.2 it will disappear. Current version is 2.4.2

ok great. Everything you’ve done there seems to be correct.

I removed the latest version and I installed version 2.4.1. The issue appeared. Then, I updated to the latest version of the plugin version 2.4.2 and the issue is not there. Please check: https://readable-addax-4b7938.instawp.xyz/product/product-name/

However, on my end this is not the case. I was wondering if you could somehow install WPBakery so to check if there is a conflict between these two.
