[Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] open jpg thumb on its own template file

when you click on a thumbnail – is it possible to open the jpg on a specific wordpress template file instead of opening just the jpg in the browser?
I’d like to use a custom template and maby with some $pic variable having the fullsize image displayed on that page.
