I’m trying to figure out what happened to my sitemap. I’ve been using XML Sitemaps for years and was always able to click the sitemap link above and see all the pages and dates for the updates.

If I click the sitemap-misc.xml the browser shows a blank page. If I Click the page-sitemap.xml link it shows a 404 page.

Same thing happens if I try to access the sitemap via Google Search Console.

    Any help appreciated.

    Currently using V 4.1.16

Thanks, What’s the best way to roll back. I don’t have a backup going back that far. Do I use a roll back plugin.

I installed 4.1.13, all the links were still empty. Also on the XML Sitemap settings page I was getting an a warning message: “The following plugins conflict with proper indexation of your website. Use the buttons below to disable the extra sitemaps”, but there were no buttons to use for disabling anything.

Unfortunately I forgot to disable auto updates and the plugin updated back to 4.1.16. I deleted it again and now I’m just going to live with the default WordPress XML Sitemap until I figure out what to do.

Perhaps another sitemap plugin is installed. Turn it off.

Thanks, but I don’t have any other sitemap plugins. I don’t use Yoast or All in One SEO or any other SEO plugin that includes a sitemap

4.1.13 work for me now, or you can just wait new plugin updates.

Is it safe to assume when XML Sitemaps is installed, it automatically disables the WP default sitemap..

Even though I have auto updates disabled for the plugin, I can’t seem to be able to roll back without the plugin being updated back to the latest version. Every time a backup occurs the plugin is back to the latest version.

Temporarily giving up and using the default WP sitemap and already getting messages from Google Search Console about pages with no index tags..

Been using XML Sitemaps almost from inception, but may have to switch unless I get it to work. Problem with switching to something new is there is not really anything to compare without added SEO. I already use an an SEO plugin which would conflict.

I don’t think it’s something on my end or with my web host because the WP default sitemap works as expected.

Thanks everyone for sharing the feedback. We’re currently testing multiple fixes.

When will you release a fix?? How long do we have to endure this bug???

@tihjawi, delays are caused by working on troubleshooting and fixing as much as we can to avoid bug-fix updates rather than feature updates. We have a release scheduled for today. Thanks for your patience and support.

Hello.I just updated to the new version 4.1.17, which was highly recommended. It was written as “Fixed 404 issue”, butIn my environment, it ends up being 404.WordPress is 6.4.2, PHP8.1.

I apologize if I offended you because I use a translation website.

    Thank you.

@auctollo lol youre new 4.1.17 version still broken — 404 errors!!!

    FIX THE PROBLEM!!!!

I also updated to 4.1.17 and still getting the 404 error on any of the sub-sitemap links. Only the sitemap.xml and sitemap-misc.xml load without the error. Went back to the functional 4.1.13; hopefully we can get a bug fix update instead of waiting for another feature update that we can’t utilize.
