Is this built-in or a bug? Trying to transfer 100% of the money to the connected account doesn’t work, however transferring 99% does.

    Hi @xibble

Thanks for reaching out about the Split Pay Plugin.

There’s a variety of reasons why that may have occurred.

Mainly, it would happen if your Stripe Payout Balance was not sufficient enough to cover the Transfer amount at the time of the transaction.

What payment method did you use?

If credit card, which has a 2.9% + 0.30c fee, it would make sense your transaction failed. You may have had another small amount from a previous transaction left in your Payout Balance, which would allow the 99% to work the second time you tried it.

Basically, 100% transfer amount will only work if you want to be left covering the Stripe fees, which in some cases if your Payout Balance is empty or too low, the transaction will fail.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks for your response, I used the Stripe 4242 test credit card. I think your assessment is correct.

Does this mean the plugin uses the Destination Charges API rather than the Direct Charges API? I believe if we use Direct Charges API (the one recommended for Standard Accounts) the Stripe fees are passed on to the connected account.

I might be wrong, but I think the 2.9% fee comes from the fact that the plugin uses Destination Charges instead – am I right?

With the way the plugin is set up with the Stripe API currently, the Platform account handles the fees. The receiving account only receives the Transfer amount.

In the future, we do plan to have both API options available so fees could be handled by the destination account, but for now, this is the way the plugin works for the foreseeable future.

Please note that we adopted this plugin ~2 years ago, and we are still adding a great deal of features to it. I’ve taken note of the email you sent us, and I will be sure to reach out to you in the future when we support both methods.

Please let me know if you have any other questions for now.

Thanks for the confirmation – I just needed to understand that.

I love what you guys are doing with this plugin and am already satisfied because it simply already does exactly what it needs to do.

My workaround would be to just transfer ~97.1% AND have some money always in the balance.

    Thanks!
