    Hello,

We would have an online furniture store in which we sell sofas. The sofas are available in 6 fabric groups. Each group has dozens of fabric types, each of them have multiple colors.

So the mapping is: Fabric group > Fabric type > Fabric colors. The Fabric group is the price. Type and colors don’t change the price.

In the regular way we could make standard variations, ending up with hundreds of different types.

Is there a way to add the products in Woocommerce and only have to fill in the prices for the fabric group?

    Best regards,

    Martijn

    Hello @martijntje,

It’s possible to set up your products in WooCommerce in a way that aligns with your fabric group > fabric type > fabric color hierarchy, while only associating the price with the fabric group.

    Here’s a brief guide:

    1. Create a product and set the product data to ‘Variable product’.

    2. Under ‘Attributes’, add your Fabric Group as an attribute and list all the fabric groups. Make sure to enable ‘Used for variations’.

    3. Repeat step 2 for Fabric Type and Fabric Color attributes.

    4. Now, go to ‘Variations’. Select ‘Create variations from all attributes’ and click ‘Go’. This will create all possible combinations.

    5. Since your price is based on Fabric Group, you can set the prices for each variation that has a different fabric group. All other variations (based on type and color) within the same group can inherit this price.

You can learn more from our guide here.

    I hope this helps!

@ckadenge you linked this user to a paid for app. Plus you forgot to mention to NOT use the other attributes as variants. If I’m not mistaken that what they intended to say @martijntje

    Thanks for your answers.

Yes, I can create all variations, but than I have to fill out all the prices for all the variations, which are hundreds.

I would like to fill out only the prices of the 6 fabric groups. The other options are not affecting the price.

Hey, @martijntje! I’m happy to help you.

Yes, I can create all variations, but than I have to fill out all the prices for all the variations, which are hundreds.I would like to fill out only the prices of the 6 fabric groups. The other options are not affecting the price.

To do that, first create the Fabric group variation and make sure to mark it as “used for variations”.

Then, go to Variations and click to generate the variations. This will create the variation of the fabric groups.

Now, click on each one and set the price and other information you want to add and save the changes.

Once this is done and saved, go back to attributes and create the attributes for the fabric type and color. Also check them as “Used for variations” and save the changes. But do not generate the variations with them, just make sure to check the checkbox. Don’t forget to save the changes.

Now, if you go to the Variations tab, it should look like this:

This means the customer will be able to choose each variant, but the price will only change if they change the fabric group.

I hope this was clarifying. If you face any issues or have any questions, please let us know so we can assist you further.

You can find more about this in this guide.

    Have a wonderful day!
