• I have tried to log into my wordpress install and I keep getting a 404 page when I click to log in after seeing the page asking for my details.

The site I am looking at I have worked on for 12 months and got a really good leel of traffic, its worrying to think what might happen if I need to reinstall, however, when I contacted my support host they said that I would need to do exactly that – can anyone advise how I might reinstall without changing any of the posts and URLs etc? Is there a way to do this and keep all the same plugins running etc?

Try downloading WordPress again and delete then replace your copies of everything except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings. Some uploaders tend to be unreliable when overwriting files, so don’t forget to delete the original files before replacing them.
