Hello, I have just set up WooCommerce PayPal Payments on two websites. When a sale is made, the customer email address is not being passed to the PayPal account or the sale notification email sent from PayPal.

The customer’s email address is needed for postage tracking, and sending order updates.

How can I ensure the customer email is sent to the paypal account and with the email PayPal sends to notify of a sale?

Everything is up to date on both websites.

    Thank you.

    Hello @amaywebdesign,

Thank you for reaching out to us, we are here to help.

The problem description leaves some room open for interpretation, but what I understand is that you want the personal email address that is filled in on the checkout page, to be shown in the Transactions that can be found in the page for PayPal Merchant account.

This email address is actually sent to PayPal, but it is indeed not displayed in the Transaction overview. The only email address that PayPal is showing there would be the PayPal email address that an account has been created for. This process is something that is handled by PayPal and cannot be adjusted via our plugin. You could reach out to PayPal Merchant Support to raise and/or discuss this.

We had a short discussion about this situation, and we can offer you one solution that you can implement to get a workaround in place. You can use this snippet on your site, in order to add the personal email address to the Transaction details by adding it in the memo field that is sent to PayPal. This way, you will always have the customer personal email address available in the PayPal Transaction. This solution does only work for the PayPal payment method and I did test the same for the Advanced Card Processing payment method, but did not see this option succeed for that. Maybe the address could be appended to the shipping address in PayPal, but?you might want to ask PayPal Merchant Support if they have any options for that if this is required.

Please let me know if this is a suitable solution for you and if you have any further questions for us.

    Kind regards,
    Joost
