I received this email from Google the other day:

“Search Console has identified that your site is affected by 1 Sitelinks searchbox structured data issue(s). The following issues were found on your site.

Top critical issues*
Missing field “query-input” (in “potentialAction”)

*Critical issule prevent your page or feature from appearing in Search results.”

Can you please help me fix this issue?

Hey @ninelittlebees,

I don’t see any issues after inspecting your site with Google’s rich results testing tool. Are you still experiencing any issues?

How are you inspecting? At the site I linked above your post (what I believe is Google’s own rich results test site), it’s still showing the same issue.

Here’s a screenshot from a refresh I just did.

Hi @ninelittlebees,

We test with Google’s Rich Snippets Testing Tool which shows there are no errors or warnings with the Sitelinks searchbox markup – https://a.supportally.com/i/K9BQAP

Additionally, we check the Schema markup output by All in One SEO in the source code of your site and it clearly shows the correct markup as seen here – https://a.supportally.com/i/LuuO6Q

There you can see the query-input and you can see that the markup code matches the example in Google’s documentation here – https://developers.google.com/search/docs/appearance/structured-data/sitelinks-searchbox#example

The error reported by Google has been fixed so it’s good now.

I am currently getting this same error and validating the fix in Google Search Console doesn’t resolve it. I went in and made some changes to the schemas, hoping that would help, but it did not. (FYI, the instructions here are out of date, as the sitelinks option is under Search Appearance, not General: https://aioseo.com/docs/how-to-get-google-to-display-the-sitelinks-search-box/.)

I have the same experience as @monickels does using AIOSEO. I just received the email today from Google about this and just tested with Google’s Rich Testing tool, which shows “query-input” as missing. Is AIOSEO planning to include this? I see that Yoast does include this.
