[Plugin: WP-Table Reloaded] Importing a table from twiki or foswiki?

  • In 2005 I set up a blog for trip, and we used a twiki table to hold the itinerary. Time passed, and I converted that site from TWiki to Foswiki (no changes were needed for the table I used for the itinerary). The table uses some simple math formulas to make the content more useful and easier to maintain (tracking mileage, the number of days we drove/stayed, perhaps helping to convert from the number of days to a calendar date, some column sums, etc.)

    I didn’t see “import from foswiki/twiki” as an “import” mode to the wp-table-reloaded plugin. I’d rather not import from HTML because then I’d lose all the formulas (OK, this is not a strong concern because the trip is over and I doubt there will be reason to edit the data, but still…).

    Any idea how difficult it might be (for somebody suitably skilled) to see about getting a twiki/foswiki table import mode working for wp-table-reloaded?

    thanks for your question.

    Unfortunately, I have bad news, as there will be no import possibility for tables from those wiki platforms.
    I simply don’t have the time to work on something like that and honestly I don’t really see a need, as there are not many people in need of such a feature, which then would only be used once for an import.

    Additionally, there would be no difference to importing the HTML results, because your formulas would be rather useless in WP-Table Reloaded. It is not designed to be a spreadsheet application, so your formulas would never be evaluated.

    On thing that you could try (besides simply importing the HTML): Maybe you can export from the wiki to Excel (or CSV). Then you could simply import that CSV file to WP-Table Reloaded.

    Thanks for the quick response. I understand completely, and figured I had nothing to lose by asking!

    And I must have misunderstood about the formulas in the table system.

    Separately, I’ll be bringing up a wp site for a little league baseball team soon ??
