• Hi,

First off I am running BuddyBoss FREE and would contact their support but they hide it behind a paywall. Oh well.

Yesterday I ran into an incompatibility between BuddyBoss and an old BuddyPress addon plugin, while I was troubleshooting the issue I installed a new BuddyBoss (still same version). That was a mistake, and now when you attempt to view a member’s profile you get a 404 page. This doesn’t happen if in the BuddyBoss settings you set the profile url to [username], for security reasons though I have set it to[unique identifier] and I get the problem.

    More specifically:

WordPress V.6.4.1 yesterday, V.6.4.2 today, BuddyBoss V. 2.8.4.0 (FREE VERSION)

I am running WPmultiusersync, V2.0.3, the users originated from another site, (although I am running WPMUS I am NOT running a multi-site.)

I have attempted re-activating the old BuddyBoss plugin I had installed and purging the cache but no luck, I have attempted to “repair community” and “repair member profiles” and clearing the cache multiple times and nothing works.

There are few users, I could easily delete and ‘re-import” them from the other site, however in the future, that will be practically impossible. I could switch the profile url to [username] but that exposes usernames.

Any help would be great! Thanks!

  • Hi luxxston77,

To troubleshoot this issue, first, make sure to update WordPress to the latest version available and check again. After that, run a compatibility test for your themes and plugins in these steps:
    – Switch to a WordPress default theme, like “Twenty Twenty-Three”. Then check again to see if it resolves the issue.
    – Temporarily deactivate all the plugins except BuddyBoss and check again.
    – If the issue is fixed, reactivate and check them one by one.
If you find the one causing the issue, contact their support team and let them know.

The other method is to double-check your permalinks in your WordPress admin dashboard > Settings > Permalinks.

You can also check server logs in your hosting control panel for any related errors, or simply ask your hosting support to help you with this.

After all these steps, also consider checking BuddyBoss documentation and contact their support forums, so their support community can help you with solving this issue.

    Hi @saniamohammadi,

I’ve updated wordpress to latest version, ran the compatability tests you suggested, I’ve double checked and reset the permalinks a few times (even before your response I did) . Nothing worked, so I emailed BuddyBoss, they said they are investigating it.

    Situation Updates:

WordPress V 6.4.2 , BuddyBoss V 2.8.4.0 (FREE Version), it appears that on the one site (https://untreadglory.com) that only users that originated from the other site (https://luxauro.com) have the profile links broken, (I use the WPRUS plugin as a sort of Single Sign On) whereas on https://luxauro.com only a couple of users have their profile links broken and they originated from https://luxauro.com. It seems rather strange to me, my thought is that there is some incompatibility between BuddyBoss and WPRUS, but can’t say for certain. Will update when I hear back from BuddyBoss Support. Also will contact host, though they’ll probably say to contact BuddyBoss and WPRUS.
