• I tried to update to the latest version 3.4.22 of my-calendar. It didn’t look good. so I tried to restore the backup. The restore failed tripping up on my-calendar-custom folder.

    Failed to move directory (check your file permissions and disk quota): /opt/bitnami/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/my-calendar-custom/styles -> /opt/bitnami/wordpress/wp-content/updraft/plugins-old/my-calendar-custom/styles
    0048.600 () Error message: Could not move the files into place. Check your file permissions.
    0048.600 () Error data (move_failed): /opt/bitnami/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/my-calendar-custom -> /opt/bitnami/wordpress/wp-content/updraft/plugins-old/my-calendar-custom
    0048.600 () plugins: /opt/bitnami/wordpress/wp-content/plugins: deleting contents (as attempts to copy failed)

    After this failed restore I lost most of my 20 plugins.

    My question to you is if I uninstall my-calendar plugin, do I lose all my events? I am still struggling to recover. I can no longer update plugins.

    Those errors sound a little like you’re actually having problems with the available storage on your hosting. If you’re using the Updraft plugin, it may be storing many different copies of your site, causing it to take up too much of your available storage space. When this happens, you can run into problems with WordPress being unable to extract zip files and run all the file operations necessary to install updates.

    My first suggestion is to go to Settings > UpdraftPlus Backups and see just how many backups you have stored; if there are a lot of them, you may want to remove older ones and limit how many are kept. You can change those settings at UpdraftPlus Backups > Settings > Files backup schedule

    No, there’s plenty of space. I’m thinking of deleting my-calendar and reinstalling it. but I don’t want to lose all my events. if I do this will I lose the events? thanks

    after I reinstall my-calendar, I would try the restore again.

    BTW I have a custom styles file. the reason I did the restore was that after I updated to 3.4.22, my calendar had NO SATURDAY events.

    I think there was a problem with the my-calendar-custom directory.

    I have cp’ed all my plugins from the pre calendar update to the plugins directory through ftp that were lost. But now the owner of these files is the ftp user not daemon. I cannot do any updates.

    Deleting your calendar won’t delete your events *unless* you have the option checked at My Calendar > Settings > General for “Drop MySQL tables on uninstall”.

    That option will remove all of your events. If you delete the calendar without that setting checked or if you only delete the files, e.g., via FTP, then your events will be intact.

    You may want to talk to your host about the problems with file permissions; they’d be the best people to make sure all of your file permissions match expectations.

    thanks for your reply, Joe. Here is the error in the Restore Log:

    0049.661 () Error message: Could not move the files into place. Check your file permissions.
    0049.662 () Error data (move_failed): (2) /opt/*****/wordpress/wp-content/upgrade/c04046e4/plugins/my-calendar-custom -> /opt/*****/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/my-calendar-custom
    0049.662 () Restore failed

    Since the error occurred when the restore tried to copy your my-calendar-custom directory, can you tell me what the file permissions and owner should be on that directory? Unfortunately, I don’t know what they were when this failure occurred. I am asking so I can try to prevent this from happening in the future.

    They should be the same as any other directory in wp-content; all of those directories should have basically the same permissions, generally speaking.
