We sell our products through WooCommerce. I have a product feed in CTX feed so we can show the products on Google. All of the attributes selected are pushing through but for some reason the Description attribute always shows up as blank. This means that there is no product description in Google Merchant Center. All other attributes (price, title, weight etc) are in there correctly, it is only description that is not.

I have another WP site using the exact same feed and as far as I can tell they are set up the exact same.

Has anybody else had this or know how to deal with it?

    Thanks for reaching us,

As you said, some of the products in your feed are missing their product descriptions. Firstly, please ensure that you are using the latest version of CTX Feed and assign the correct attribute. In our latest version, there’s no such issue found. Then check the product description on your website to ensure.

If your product descriptions are present but not included in the feed, it could be due to a cache issue. In such cases, I would like to request you clear the cache from your website, cache plugin, and CTX Feed’s “Make Feed” page, and then regenerate your feed. Hopefully, it will resolve the issue.

Hi Shahed. Thanks for the response. I can confirm we are using the correct Product Description attribute as per your screenshot.

I have cleared the website cache, cleared the CTX Feed cache and regenerated the feed. When looking at the file, it still seem to not have anything under the description attribute. There is also nothing showing in GMC.

Do you have any further suggestions for next steps?

    Hello Geosons,

    Thanks for reaching us,

It is unexpected that the issue you are facing will not be resolved by following the instructions provided above. If you assigned the correct attribute to the Product Descriptions and there’s no cache issue it should be resolved.

Please provide your feed link and feed config to help identify the issue. However, confirm that you are managing your product description using the WooCommerce Product Description field. Only then Product Description populate the value in your feed. On the other hand, If you’re managing your product description with a Custom field or Short description, assign it to the Product Description attribute to resolve the issue.

    Hi Shahed

That is correct, we are using the WooCommerce Product Description field and not a custom field. We are also using the Product Description field to populate the value in the feed.

This still causes the feed file to not have the description in it and nothing show in GMC.

Could this be caused by something in the settings or in the product page that could be causing this issue?

    Hello,

    Thanks for reaching us,

As far as our inspection, you may use the Short Description field to manage your product description, but you’re assigning Product Description in your feed, which is totally different. Can you please create your feed using Short Description here and let us know if it is resolved or not?

If the issue persists, it could be a site-specific issue. In this case, please reach out to us from here.

    Hi Shahed

I have gone into the feed and changed it from Product Description to Short Description as per your advise. The Feed still is showing nothing in the file under the description field.

Our products all have short descriptions in there product pages as seen here.
