I changed the permalink structure and now my homepage is not opening

It seems to be a basic question as everyone wants to change the permalinks structure. I also want the same, from:
?p=123
to
/%category%/%postname%/
but after this It displays “page not found” when I try to open Home page as:
It opens and works fine when I want to open it as:
https://googolquestions.com/index.php
How can I get rid of this index.php ?
