My website gallery appears to work fine under normal circumstances, but when I use a VPN the and click on an image I get the wheel of doom, which continues for ever and no picture loads.

The person for whom I made the site also has the same problem, however they say they are not using a VPN. Interestingly though their IP address points to the Netherlands and they are UK based. I’m not sure why that should make a difference, but it turns out my VPN also shows an overseas IP address.

Any suggestions? I have used Site health checker. I am not using the latest version of the plugin as this crashes my site completely.

    Hi,

Please note that we do not use VPN, but it is not opening as well. It is still loading.

This problem might be a conflict with another plugin on your website.
Please try to deactivate the rest of your plugin, then please check whether the problem persists.
Also, if possible, please temporarily switch the theme of your website and see if the issue occurs.
You can re-activate the plugins and change the theme back again after troubleshooting.
Please inform us of the results.

    Cheers!

Yes I have disabled all the plugins, still the same issue. I also disabled the theme and the issue continued.

OK I have partially solved the issue but not really in a satisfactory way for me. I have a .htaccess file in my admin folder that denies access to any ip address not on the allow list, the idea is to stop malicious hackers. However it turns out it also stops your plugin accessing wp-admin/admin-post.php and wp-admin/admin-ajax.php, which causes the lightbox not to load.

Can you suggest an exception that can be added to .htaccess or perhaps an alternative work around so I do not lose that layer of security?

    Hi,

Unfortunately, our developers could not suggest any possible solution for this case, as we need access to admin-ajax.php to send an AJAX request and open the lightbox.

    Thanks!

    Have a nice day!
