Data security issues Bots with double opt-in process

Hi,

we are using the WordPress Brevo plugin and have setup a double opt-in process. So far this is working. However, we do receive bot entries with the double opt-in confirmation email. We are sure of this, because only users who have clicked on the confirmation email are saved in our email list, thus are double opted in users.

We are concerned about the security of data as it shouldn’t happen that bots are clicking on links in emails, especially with a DOI process. What are you doing to protect Brevo users here and what is the solution?

Because of GDPR we do not want to use reCaptcha from Google. We have tried honeypot, but it does not work with your way of setup (Email could not be verified).
