Updating WordPress, W3 and Avoiding a Critical Error
-
I was updating our test website today and ran into a critical error problem with W3 Total Cache after updating WordPress to version 6.4. I found several threads on how to solve this error and am currently deleting the folders and files suggested and removing the htaccess bits. I haven’t had any problems with the plugin before and it happened right after I upgraded WordPress so I assume this was the cause.
I would like to avoid this happening again when I do update the live site, as is it taking quite a while to remove these folders. So my question is what steps I should be taking with W3 before upgrading WordPress? Should I be deactivating the plugin entirely, or turning off all the features, or purging all caches before upgrading?
